NEXT TO NOTHING and THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A STORY published by Beir Bua Press
It’s exciting news! My poems NEXT TO NOTHING and THIS WAS MEANT TO BE A STORY have been published by the wonderful experimental publisher Beir Bua Press. The poems were among the winners of the 2021 Laurence Sterne Prize, which was a big honour and they are now available to buy online through the press. There’s also an online launch event on Friday 28th January 2022 at which I will read extracts of my poems alongside this month’s other Beir Bua published poets.
Here’s some praise for the book:
“A real testing of linguistic registers, an intricate living archive of cultural and literary references and a stunning hybrid, theoretical lyric assemblage of poetic essays, prose poems and close readings.”
Agnes Lehoczky; poet, academic and translator, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Sheffield. Recent publications: Swimming Pool (Shearsman), Wretched Strangers (Boiler House).
“Mark Lindsey’s compelling essay poems effortlessly inhabit the shadowy interstice between fiction, journalism and philosophy. Delightfully random yet chillingly relevant.”
A J Moore; author, m(p)atriarchive beir bua press.
“Mark Lindsey’s hybrid text seduces readers with magnificent storytelling; while questioning writing’s disinformational public-relations trickery with superb, unsettling comic brio.”
Adam Piette; Professor of Modern Literature at the University of Sheffield, co-editor of the international poetry journal Blackbox Manifold with Alex Houen.
